DARK LOVER by J R Ward

Part one of the Black dagger brotherhood

"In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the blind leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed - leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate - Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead - a world beyond her wildest dreams"
This book is really long, and for a long book to keep me interested - well it has to be really good.. and it is!
Fast paced, dark, erotic and realistic - realistic.... You could almost believe it was all real... Probably helped along by the references to modern rap artists... you could picture the brotherhood hanging out just like any other gang u see on tele...
I was impressed with the character development - both Beth and Wrath were not entirely likable in the beginning both seemed unaproachable and i admit i did wonder if i could see a romance... but... wow towards the end you start to see what they both have tried to hide... They are both vulnerable. I particularly liked Butch, the hard assed cop. He grew on me - and yes hes no vampire, but there sure is potential.
Favourite part was Wrath and Beths bonding ceremony - it truly was err really good to read... and wow... it blew me away.
I cant wait to read Marissa's and Butch's story... but thats books ahead.... but I'll get there soon enough

DRAGONSWAN and THE BEGINNING by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Two books, both relatively short.
The Beginning is very short and is available on Sherrilyn's Website. This is an introduction to the dark hunter series, and how the Dark Hunters came to be...
It actually confused me completely... not sure i quite understand but maybe i will in time..???
Basically Acheron is sent for by Artemis, a Goddess/Daemon, also I'm guessing his ex or wannabe lover... but Acheron is angry at her for causing his death?
Artemis asks him to train her Dark hunters and because he wants no one to suffer as he has, he goes to her...
I won't tell u any more... just check out her site... either way its left me very CONFUSED!
Anyway it wasn't very long, roughly 10 min read... so its probably not worth mentioning - but i will....

Anyway onto Dragonswan Sebastion and channon's story. Sebastion is a were-dragon, a lonely were-dragon. Cast off from his kind forced to slay his enemies alone. He has travelled from his Saxon home into the present to steal a tapestry so he can save his brother, as he checks the museum out he meets Channon whom he feels an all consuming desire for. After an extremely hot liason he creeps out of her room only to realise she is his lifemate.... If he does not claim her he will never find another lifemate and so he decides to take her to his home back in time.

As I said this is a short book, but a very hot book... yummy yummy... Sherrilyn has created yet another scrummy lead character after my own heart "swoon!"
and Channon is an interesting character... however I feel this book was perhaps too short... there was a lot of missed opportunity... it feels like its missing something.. it just seems all too easy and quick... Still its worth a read.... It will keep you warm, I promise u!

FANTASY LOVER by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Part one of the Dark Hunter series...

Official description: "Twenty-nine year-old sex therapist Grace Alexander has been celibate for four years after experiencing a horrendous relationship with a self-centered, cruel former lover. Grace's flamboyant, exotic friend Selena decides it's time to get Grace back in the swing of things and she has just the solution -- an ancient tome holding a magnificent male specimen cursed to live between the pages of the book for eternity -- until he's called forth with a magic spell to serve as a love slave to his summoner for a period of one month. Having experienced Selena's so-called magic spells before, Grace isn't worried that the gorgeous guy in the picture is going to magically appear. Surprise, surprise, and happy birthday to Grace!
Julian of Macedon, half God, half mortal, is so exceptionally good looking that he made women fall at his feet and men green with envy and jealousy, in his time -- 149 BC. Jealousy and atonement for his sins, is what finds Julian cursed and trapped between the pages of a book only free for one month at a time, if he's lucky. Sometimes that freedom only comes once every one hundred years. When Grace summons him from the book, Julian is resigned and ready to fulfill her every sexual dream and fantasy. Grace, however, has other ideas for Julian. When she discovers just what a heartbreaking, loveless and dark life he's lived, Grace decides to show Julian just what friendship and love mean."

I have a few things to get off my mind before i continue.... OOOOhh baby yeah....
and also
"Come and ease my aching loins,
O great Julian of Macedon, Julian of Macedon, Julian of Macedon."
Damn it didnt work!

Oh well will have to dream instead...

Anyways... this book, phew, its a hottie... not in an elloras cave erotic kind of way... just a kind of what a man kind of way.... phew hell, Julian could warm my bed any day ;-)
This book was a dream to read, it reads really well in a language that i understand.... Grace, the heroine, is someone i would love to have as a friend, a sassy, intelligent woman whos been hurt in the past... but a woman whos heart is big enough to see the hurt in the sexy Julian... hell if I'd found Julian I couldnt have kept him out of bed...
and then theres Julian, a man out for your own heart - also bed... sexy as sin but vulnerable... and its so sweet how Grace never gave up on him.. and with her strength he gradually began to heal.... ahh its so good...

I can't wait for the next book, which i have ready and waiting for me to read... but i think right now i'm gonna try one more time :
"Come and ease my aching loins,
O great Julian of Macedon, Julian of Macedon, Julian of Macedon."

Dammit... good try though ;-)

VIRTUAL DESIRE by Ann Lawrence

sequal to Virtual Heaven, this book tells the story of Vad and Maggie's friend Gwen.
Official description "Gwen Marlowe is stunned when she discovers that the handsome hero from her virtual reality game is a real-life warrior from a distant planet, who sweeps her into a strange new world in which their love must transcend the distance of the universe."
I feel Vad was missing something in this book. In the first book he came across warm and with a sense of humour, in the book he's a lot like Kered.
Its an okay book, I found it a bit longwinded and i was disapointed not to see more of Maggie and Kered. It did explain more about the virtual world, more about how people travelled there but I feel let down by it.
Maybe this is a case where the first book overshadows the second. Still there are some good moments, and its still worth reading

THE SCOTTISH ROSE by Jill Jones

This book gives you an insight into some of the events in Scotlands history and also into the life of Mary queen of Scots... and despite its heavy content is really enjoyable. This book had a lot going on; a mysterious legacy, a lawyer faced with temptation, 2 people unwilling to open themselves to hurt and a siege on a castle - plus time travel.

"Taking her crew from New York to Scotland, Taylor uses the opportunity to ! check out an inheritance from a relative of whose existence she hadn't known. Handed down through the ladies of the family, there is a diary and letters detailing Mary's chalice, The Scottish Rose, as well as its hiding place during the Cromwell era.
Duncan Fraser is a widower who has turned into himself after the deaths of his two young sons. Such fulfillment as his life has now, is as the chief of the coastal rescue mission. Although in his opinion he has rescued entirely too many fool-hardy wanderers from the rough North Sea around the Ladysgate, he can't imagine quite why he is so concerned about someone who hasn't even asked for his help. Instinctively, he senses her plea for help over time and distance, and plunges into the past after her. Together, they, along with the deaf-mute boy, Pauley, contrive to become a part of history without distorting it.
"

TWILIGHT by Stephanie Meyers COMPLETE

Thats it I finished the book and it was so good... much better than the film... the film omits so many scenes which i feel enrich the story. Dashed out to the shops to buy the sequel... I want to see if Edward transforms Bella into a vampire... I just googled the question and saw other people asking the same question... but i dont really want to know now... I'd like to read the books instead and discover it myself... but hell its fustrating cause i want Bella to spend eternity with edward... please!!!

TWILIGHT by Stephanie Meyers movie

Page 354.

Okay, i have a confession - I went to see Twilight in the cinema and at this point I'm not sure if that was a good idea, or a bad one considering i havent finished reading it yet.

I actually didnt really want to see it, just as i never really wanted to read the book, still there was nothing else on i wanted to see... and so i went....

The result... I came home and continued reading some more and additionally I have joined the millions of girls lusting after Edward Cullen how mad is that?

The movie is seriously beautiful... i was crying cause it was so moving... seeing the romance blossom between Edward and Bella... the film was shot with a lot of thought and sensitivity.... Every scene was brimming with tension and i was so gutted that i had to leave the film for ten minutes so i could go to the loo (Damn these large drinks)

I'm not a film buff but I so need that film on DVD.

The film doesnt follow the book completely, a lot of the book stuff has been omitted, and a few items added in that werent in a book... and yet the important stuff between Edward and Bella remains....

I was also pleased to see that the film didnt have a teenage movie glitter on it... no perfect make up, no perfect people, no perfect sets... everything looked so average, pale, normal... even the school reminded me of my own...

The film is worth seeing, it certainly fired up my need to read the book and the rest of the books...
